Single Speed? Are you freekin' Nuts?  

I'm not sure how this really started, but it did.
Rich, Scott, and Kris started doing our group rides on single speed bikes. Then they started racing on them. Some of you may have been passed by Scott as he rang his bell, bellowing for all -"passed by a single speed" Then you might have pushed him over or jammed a branch in his spokes and said something like "do that again and I'll kill ya!"

Independent heard about what we were doing, offered to help us out (Thanks Steve), and here we are with an 8 member team.
